Sonoma County DSA’s New Logo

After several months of consideration and drafting and a full week of voting, Sonoma County DSA has officially adopted a unique logo! Designed by Sonoma County DSA member Devon, the logo invokes the iconic DSA symbolism of the rose and the interracial handshake while also incorporating a rooster as a symbol of Sonoma County, as the region has a huge agricultural economy. Further, some of the first socialist activists in the region were the city of Petaluma’s community of secular Jewish socialist chicken farmers who immigrated to Petaluma from Eastern Europe in the early 1900s. These brave activists remained culturally and politically influential until the 1950s, when the McCarthyist terror of the era targeted and repressed them.
